Kanan PH is an independent conservative nonprofit organization formed by different individuals with the aim of growing the conservative movement in the Philippines.

As Conservatives, we believe that there should be a different narrative on how we view the events that transpired under the 1972 martial law. We should not join the Left on how they see martial law. We should not also uphold the loyalist position that views it as a “golden era”. We must have a balanced view on this period of our own history as Filipinos.

In our pubmats below, we would like to clarify four things that were commonly dismissed by the mainstream media in discussing the 1972 Martial Law.

1. We must recognize the validity and constitutionality of Proclamation 1081 which put the whole country under martial law.

2. We must also recognize the atrocities committed by State and non-State actors during the Martial Law regime.

3. We condemn the Leftists for using this event to recruit young people to join the communist armed rebellion.

4. We also condemn those who continue to deny the atrocities despite of historical evidence presented by the victims, jurisprudence, and our laws.
